Nissan was showing technology research that was based on the idea of bees and that their sensors allow them to move quickly and never run into each other. They are incorporating this idea into robots and eventually car for safety implications. It is likely still 10-15 years out.
In Fall 2007, four Olin College freshman designed and built a biomimetic aquatic snake for Design Nature, an introductory class. The snake was controlled wirelessly and powered by a single servo.
